Twillingate Clean Up – April 2021

Farmer's Arm and Little Plastic Cove - let's get busy!

This April we did a 4 day clean up near Twillingate, NL, and boy what a haul!  Over 20 cod nets, crab pots, car doors, buckets, 5 bags of fising ropes and dozens of bags of beach plastic: shopping bags, ropes, plastic bottles, pipes, toys.

One of the main sources of beach plastic we found was old bleach bottles – we found almost 100 of these alone!  These bottles are often used as inexpensive buoys for fishing nets and pots, but they do not last for very long and quickly start to leak, break down and end up on our beaches.

Over the course of the week, we removed 3527 lbs of beach and marine debris!
